As people work from home full time, children are being homeschooled, finding a work-life balance can be tricky.
Many women are already familiar with the challenges of balancing work with childcare, caregiving of elderly parents, and taking care of the household . Women, more often than not, find themselves in the position of being responsible for everyone and everything, while pursuing their own work and organizing in our communities.
I know this very well from my own personal life, as I took an active role in the care of my ailing mother while working from home full-time as a freelance communications professional, and volunteering as a community organizer for a number of social causes in what was left of my spare time.
It can be overwhelming, but there is strength in solidarity.
We invite you to the webinar For Women: Balancing Home, Work, and Community Organizing During COVID-19 on Thursday, May 28 at 3 p.m. EST. Let’s share our stories, experiences, and learn from - and support - each other.
To get the conversation started, we have an inspiring guest: Valentina Harper. Valentina grew up in Chile during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. She does lots of work to support self-determination for Indigenous people in Canada and is one of the founders of the first “Caremongering" group in Canada.
This webinar is free and aimed at women and non-binary people, but is open to anyone who needs a place to talk, vent, and share about the topics we will be discussing.
To join just RSVP and a link will be sent to you.
We look forward to seeing you there!
